Pursuing a peace that repairs, reconciles, and restores.
For the follower of Jesus who still believes—and is still asking hard questions.
WHAT IS SHALOM
A word bigger than “peace”
You know the English word. Calm. Quiet. The absence of conflict.
The Hebrew word Scripture actually uses—shalom—holds something that one cannot. Nothing missing. Nothing broken. The whole person, the whole community, the whole world restored to right relationship, as God always intended.
It is not a feeling to wait for. It is a life to be formed into—together.
Shalom moves through five dimensions
01 · With — Shalom with God. The root from which all formation grows.
02 · Within — Shalom in yourself. Identity anchored in belovedness.
03 · Between — Shalom with others. Love that sees the Imago Dei in all.
04 · Across — Shalom in systems. Justice enacted where dignity is at stake.
05 · Amid — Shalom with creation. Tending the world toward its flourishing.
THIS WEEK
Arc 1 · Week 1
What is shalom? A Hebrew word that holds more than “peace” ever could.
There’s a Hebrew word at the center of Scripture that most of us were never handed—bigger than a feeling, closer to the world as God always intended. This is where Arc 1 begins.
Where is peace present in your life—and where is it missing?
Most of us have more shalom in some places than others. That’s not failure; it’s just honest. This short reflection helps you notice where you are—and sends you a few small practices suited to it.
Fifteen statements. About five minutes. No score, no verdict.
I’m Nebai.
A Latina follower of Jesus, a justice and formation practitioner, someone who has been sitting in that tension too. Still figuring it out. Still on the journey.
I built The Shalom Way for those of us who love the Church and refuse to look away from the distance between what our faith declares and what it does.
